Rhizome and stipe of Polystichum acrostichoides based on F. B. Matos et al. 2258 from Zofnass Family Preserve, Eastern loop, Westchester County, New York. Rhizome short, creeping to erect; very scaly. Stipe brown at base, green above; scales dense, light brown.
